Beginning Ceramics
Como Ceramics is a lowfire clay program with a service learning core. Students integrate form and surface design using the maiolica glazing technique. This 2 quarter class focus 1rst Quarter on wheel throwing practice with an emphasis on the bowl form. In addition students explore radial symmetry, color relationships and pattern.
2nd Quarter students apply their skill in making form groups and expanding the size of their forms.
Each quarter a soup bowl event raises money for 2nd Harvest food shelf via sale of student work.
